Void is a nationally distributed magazine targeted towards young vivacious creatives keen to learn about the world of design and its many forms. Issue 1 of Void Magazine is focused on “The Art of Type”, with this idea reflected in design of the spreads and imagery for each of the articles.
Chinese characters on the cover reflect the bold ideas in the feature article “Typeface and Typography” by Kenya Hara. Throughout the magazine, the concept behind Ellen Lupton’s article “White Space” is explored through minimal characteristics and appreciation of white space in design. In conjunction with simple imagery and type, riso-graph printing is used, adding a pop of colour and quirkiness to the publication.
